Human Trafficking Awareness event planned

“Life In The Word Worship Center and Hope for Justice – North Carolina, are exited to announce the details of its highly anticipated Human Trafficking Awareness Event. It’s scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 1 pm at the church located at 176 Meadow Drive in Lexington.

This one-day event, called ‘Pray, Protect, and Serve’, will bring together city and county officials, law enforcement, key community organizations, the faith community, and personal storytelling to bring awareness to the exploitation of persons of all ages, gender, race, and nationalities.

“We are thrilled at the support our church has received from community organizations in such a short time,” said Connie Russell, Director of Hospitality and Outreach Coordinator. “Many of these organizations have been working for years – and are still working to expose and stop this insidious monster and rescue those who have been hurt. It’s our goal as a faith-based community to be a leader in engaging “the church” to take a wholistic approach. This includes meeting the spiritual needs of families and loved ones by rebuilding the walls of their lives, through the teaching of the Word of God and by providing spiritual support, guidance, and encouragement.”

“When Dr. Tina Scott, one of our pastors brought a little blue card from Blue Campaign, a national human trafficking organization, and shared the information with our congregation, I was touched deeply in my heart, and wanted to learn more about what we could do as a church to help eradicate this problem,” said Russell.

For more information about this event, contact Connie Russell, 336-687-7244 or Kayla Leonard, 704-612-6969.
