Lexington Senior High School student-athletes are earning recognition not only for their performance in competition, but for their excellence in the classroom.

A total of 14 varsity teams from the fall and winter seasons have been named Scholar-Athlete Teams by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, an honor awarded to teams with a combined GPA of 3.1 or higher.

In addition, 80 student-athletes earned individual Scholar-Athlete recognition for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester.

“We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for the discipline and commitment they demonstrate both in the classroom and in competition,” said Benjamin Robinson, Athletic Director at Lexington Senior High School. “This recognition reflects the culture we are building — one rooted in accountability, excellence, and preparing students for success beyond high school.”

The recognized teams include:

Fall Sports: Football, Women’s Tennis, Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Golf, Women’s Cross Country, Cheerleading
Winter Sports: Women’s Basketball, Men’s Basketball, Men’s Swimming, Women’s Swimming, Women’s Indoor Track, Men’s Wrestling, Women’s Wrestling

“This accomplishment reflects the intentional focus we place on supporting the whole child,” said Dr. Rodney Shotwell, Interim Superintendent of Lexington City Schools. “Our students are demonstrating what it means to lead with discipline and pursue excellence in every area of their lives.”

Student-athletes will be formally recognized at the school’s annual Athletic Celebration in May.
