The Association for Professionals and Students (APS), Lexington Chapter, is pleased to invite the public to its 2025 Graduation Ceremony, a celebration honoring the academic achievements of students from six locations across North Carolina: Garner, Lumberton, Winston-Salem, Lexington, Charlotte, and Hickory.
Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The “Nourishing Our Neighbors” grant supports community feeding partners as they tackle food insecurity and promote healthier lifestyles through nutritional education initiatives.
Over the course of 75 years, the Lexington Swim Club has been solidified as a sanctuary within the community, somewhere where we can gather and connect as a whole, away from the chaos of everyday life and the responsibilities that follow.
There was no response to a request for comment from Davidson County Schools. It is policy for the school district not to comment on personnel issues.
State Senator Steve Jarvis is celebrating the passage of a bill that hits close to home.
The Thomasville Farmers Market has launched "Eat the Rainbow," a new kids’ program that offers $3 in produce bucks each week to encourage healthy eating and support local farmers. The market also welcomes Aimee Young as its new Assistant Market Manager, helping lead family-friendly initiatives as part of the market’s Food as Medicine campaign.
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the American Children’s Home will celebrate its 100th anniversary at its historic campus located at 3844 NC Hwy 8 South, Lexington, NC 27292. The public is invited to attend the Centennial Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., which will include guided campus tours, historical exhibits, and family-friendly activities.
According to a social media post on June 12, a visitor to Sliding Rock in Transylvania County stated they had to pull a boy out of the water and that the adults, identified as coaches with Central Davidson High School wrestling team, did not attempt to rescue him. Davidson County Schools calls the social media post “not completely accurate.”
Davidson County Schools is proud to offer free summer meals to children and teens 18 years and younger.
The Centennial Celebration will take place Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the ACH campus located at 3844 NC Highway 8, Lexington, NC.
Children will receive a bag of food for lunch that must be consumed on site.
LEXINGTON, N.C. – The American Children’s Home is proud to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025, marking a century of service to vulnerable children across North Carolina. Founded in 1925 by the Junior Order of United American Mechanics to care for the orphans of its members, the Home has since grown into a comprehensive care provider offering residential services, foster care support, a child development center and more.

A Day of Remembrance and Resilience
June 7th marks National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and Lexington will honor the occasion with a vigil commemorating lives lost to gun violence, alongside resources promoting community safety. JLD Community Solutions has been a leader in this movement, receiving proclamations from Mayor Jason Hayes and City Councilman Jim Myers in recognition of their efforts. This year marks the 3rd annual gun violence awareness event for JLD Community Solutions.
Mizell writes, “In an increasingly divided world, public libraries stand as living symbols of our founding values that united us: equal access to information, freedom of inquiry, and the liberty to navigate a spectrum of ideas without coercive indoctrination. They are not relics of the past, but cornerstones of our future.”
Garner has once again placed 4th in the race for three open school board seats. This mirrors her strong showing in the November 2024 election, where she also finished fourth out of 14 candidates—just 800 votes short of a win.
Despite not securing an elected seat, Board Chair Nick Jarvis noted that the community had effectively chosen Garner when she was appointed to fill Ashley Carroll’s vacant seat. Jarvis said, “I felt like the citizens picked her”
On Friday, May 2, 2025, Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office arrested James C. Burr, a registered sex offender for illegally being on child premises after completing an investigation. Burr is held in the Davidson County Detention Center, pending his court date in Lexington District Court, on May 29, 2025.
