Child Sexual Assault Charges Made

Davidson County-On August 25, 2025, members with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division received a report of child sexual abuse that had occurred at a residence, located at 664 Anderson Street, Denton, North Carolina, as well as at other properties in the surrounding area.

The case was immediately assigned to Detectives with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, who launched a thorough investigation. Through multiple interviews, investigators determined that the suspect, Jeremy Lanning Amburn, age 43, had been sexually abusing a juvenile. Detectives also discovered that Angela Carpenter Amburn, age 40 was aware of the sexual abuse and actively facilitated it.

Based on the findings, Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Jeremy Amburn for five counts of felony statutory sex offense, five counts of felony indecent liberties with a minor, felony incest and four felony counts of sex offense by a substitute parent. Arrest warrants were obtained for Angela Amburn for four counts of felony aid and abet and one count of felony child abuse.

On September 12, 2025, members of the Davison County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by members of the Thomasville Police Department, executed a search warrant at 664 Anderson Street, Denton, North Carolina. Both Jeremy and Angela Amburn were arrested without incident at their residence. Jeremy Amburn was placed in the Davidson County Jail with no bond, with a court date set of September 22, 2025. Angela Amburn was placed in the Davidson County Jail with a $75,000.00 secured bond, with a court date set for September 22, 2025. Additional search warrants were executed at 660 Anderson Street, Denton, North Carolina, 741 South Main Street Extension, Denton, North Carolina and 743 South Main Street Extension, Denton, North Carolina.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with additional information regarding the sexual abuse of minors involving Jeremy and Angela Amburn to contact DCSO Detective Hall at 336-242-2120.

According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys are a victim of child sexual abuse, and 3 out of 4 victims who have been sexually assaulted were victimized by someone they knew well.
