Davidson County Deputies Arrest Father on Child Abuse Charge After Child’s Arm Broken

On February 6, 2026, Deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division took a report for child abuse. This investigation was assigned to Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division, who conducted a thorough investigation into the matter. During the investigation, Detectives found that the child’s arm was broken by his father and required surgery.

The findings were promptly presented to the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, and based on the evidence, Justin Alexander Templeton, age 27, of Winston Salem was arrested and charged with felony intentional child abuse which caused serious injury, on March 19, 2026. Templeton was taken before the magistrate, where he received no bond. Templeton is scheduled to appear in Davidson County District Court, on March 20, 2026.

Per North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, Judicial officials determine conditions for the release of persons in Judicial proceedings. Bond amounts are not set by members of law enforcement. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office values its strong working relationship with the District Attorney’s Office and extends its appreciation for their ongoing partnership. Their continued support and collaboration—both in this case and in daily operations—are instrumental to our mission and service to the community.
