Board Retreat to Highlight Services Agreement, Budget Planning and Technology Purchases
The Davidson County Board of Education will hold its retreat on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 4 pm at the DCS Central Office, 250 County School Road in Lexington 02.19.26 PUBLIC Retreat Agenda.
While the agenda includes budget discussions, school fees and technology purchases, one of the key items up for approval is a proposed agreement with We Achieve ABA Therapy to provide Applied Behavior Analysis services to students during the school day.
Featured Item: We Achieve ABA Agreement
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Deana Coley will request board approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between Davidson County Schools and We Achieve ABA 02.19.26 PUBLIC Retreat Agenda.
The agreement would allow We Achieve ABA to provide therapy services on school campuses when privately contracted by a student’s parent or guardian. The school system would not be financially responsible for these services.
According to the agreement documents, We Achieve ABA employees — including Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Behavior Technicians — would work directly with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The focus of ABA therapy includes increasing language and communication skills, improving attention and social skills and decreasing inappropriate behaviors in the classroom setting.
The memorandum outlines clear boundaries. We Achieve staff may only work with the student they are contracted to serve and cannot assist with other students or take on classroom duties. They must follow district policies, complete required background checks and adhere to mandatory reporting laws. The district retains full control over its property and events.
The agreement, if approved, would remain in effect for one year unless terminated earlier by either party.
Other Agenda Highlights
In addition to the ABA agreement, the board will review several major items:
2026–2027 Budget Development
Chief Financial Officer Ashley Crawford will present the proposed local operating budget for 2026–2027. The district conducted a zero-based budget review, meaning all expenses were evaluated from the ground up rather than carrying over previous allocations 02.19.26 PUBLIC Retreat Agenda.
