Village Home and Garden Club to host annual plant sale May 10 in Welcome

The Village Home & Garden Club, a long-standing community group based in North Davidson County, will hold its annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of the North Davidson Veterinary Hospital, located at 5042 Old U.S. Highway 52 in the Welcome community.

The sale, which will be held rain or shine, is the club’s only fundraising event of the year. Every plant available — including houseplants, shrubs, and trees — has been grown or propagated by club members. In addition to plants, the sale will feature gently used garden tools and garden décor items.

Proceeds from the sale support the club’s wide range of community projects. The Village Home & Garden Club maintains gardens at the Welcome Post Office, Welcome Elementary School’s Outdoor Classroom, and North Davidson Middle and High Schools, including various courtyards and campus areas. Members also plant and care for the gardens at the North Davidson Public Library and have organized the Horticulture Exhibits at the Davidson County Fair for more than 40 years.

Beyond gardening projects, the club supports the community through efforts such as helping area families in need, providing treats for local first responders, participating in the Welcome Easter Parade, and leading community cleanup initiatives.

This year’s sale will offer visitors the chance to find a new addition for their gardens or a gift just in time for Mother’s Day. Club members will be available to provide planting advice and recommendations to shoppers of all experience levels.

The club accepts cash and checks for purchases. More information about the sale and the Village Home & Garden Club’s activities is available on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Villagehomeandgardenclub, or by contacting Frankie Mefford at 336-407-2853.
