Lexington Fire Department Battles Structure Fire on Moore Drive

LEXINGTON, NC – At approximately 6:45 a.m. on Friday, August 29, the Lexington Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Moore Drive. The home was reported as vacant when crews were dispatched.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions along the rear and side of the house. Due to concerns about imminent roof collapse, the blaze was fought defensively—using exterior operations only. Crews deployed master streams and large attack lines to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

During the incident, the roof collapsed entirely. Fire crews remained on scene for an extended time to extinguish lingering hot spots.

The Lexington Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The home suffered significant fire, smoke, and water damage and is considered uninhabitable.

No injuries to fire personnel were reported. Davidson County EMS provided medical support to firefighters, while Lexington Utilities’ Electric and Gas departments assisted in operations.

Further details will be released once the investigation is complete.
