Road Rage Incident Leads to Multiple Arrests
Press Release
Thomasville, NC – On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at approximately 3:38 p.m., officers with the Thomasville Police Department responded to the area of Liberty Drive and NC Highway 109 South regarding a disturbance following a motor vehicle crash.
Initial reports indicated that occupants of the involved vehicles were engaged in a physical altercation and that one individual involved was armed with a knife.
The first responding officer arrived alone and encountered multiple adults and juveniles involved in a heated confrontation. Upon arrival, the officer immediately began separating the involved parties and issuing verbal commands in an effort to de-escalate the situation and prevent further violence.
While attempting to separate the individuals, the officer observed one of the involved parties, in possession of a large knife. The officer immediately secured the weapon and continued efforts to keep the involved parties separated while awaiting the arrival of additional officers.
Despite repeated verbal commands from the officer, several individuals continued engaging in aggressive and disorderly behavior. The officer continued attempting to prevent additional physical confrontations and maintain order.
During these efforts, a juvenile involved in the incident repeatedly attempted to re-engage members of the opposing group, ignored multiple lawful commands, and resisted the officer's attempts to gain control of the situation. In order to gain compliance and safely effect an arrest, the officer deployed a brief burst of department-issued OC spray (pepper spray). The juvenile was subsequently detained and taken into custody, and additional officers arrived shortly thereafter to assist in securing the scene.
During the investigation, officers determined that one individual sustained a stab wound to the head during the altercation. Davidson County EMS responded to evaluate the injured party and determined stitches were needed; however, the individual declined medical treatment and transport after being assessed by EMS personnel. EMS also treated another juvenile involved in the incident at the scene and later provided precautionary treatment to individuals exposed to OC spray at the Thomasville Police Department.
