Christmas Caught Doing Good: Uplift Mission invests in the next generation

As the holiday season invites reflection, generosity, and community, Uplift Mission Inc. is focusing on a form of giving that reaches far beyond the end of the year—investing in the next generation of young men in Lexington and Davidson County.

Through its Manhood Development efforts, Uplift Mission Inc. works with students connected to Communities In Schools of Lexington/Davidson County, including young men from Lexington Senior High School and Omega STARRS. The organization’s programming emphasizes real-world skills and values that support long-term success, including faith, financial literacy, career readiness, personal responsibility, and health and safety.

The work is rooted in a clear mission. Charles Bethea of Uplift Mission Inc. said the goal is “to help train and develop boys into better men and, ultimately, help build stronger families.”

That mission is reflected in the collaborative nature of the organization’s efforts. Community leaders, educators, faith leaders, financial professionals, law enforcement officers, the Eta Beta Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi and health advocates have all contributed their time and expertise to support and guide participating youth. The emphasis is not only on instruction, but on connection, accountability and positive role modeling.

Looking ahead, Uplift Mission Inc. is planning expanded programming for 2026, including a summer day camp and additional mentorship opportunities. The organization is also preparing a program centered around Black History Month, continuing its commitment to cultural awareness, leadership development, and community pride.

As families and communities move through the holiday season, Uplift Mission Inc.’s work stands as a reminder that some of the most meaningful gifts are not material, but intentional—guidance, mentorship, and hope for a stronger future.
