DEX Heavy Duty Parts and Volvo Group North America Donate Truck to Davidson-Davie Community College

Press Release:

Davidson-Davie Community College Foundation is proud to announce that DEX Heavy Duty Parts, in partnership with Volvo Group North America, has donated a new Volvo VNL 840 truck to the college’s Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology Program.

This state-of-the-art truck will serve as a “classroom on wheels,” providing students with hands-on experience to master the skills the trucking industry depends on—diagnosing, repairing, troubleshooting, and innovating.

“Partnerships like this are what make Davidson-Davie a leader in training and innovation,” said Kerry Smith, Division Chair for Professional and Technical Careers at Davidson-Davie. “Our students will now have access to cutting-edge equipment that mirrors what they’ll see in the field, ensuring they graduate ready to meet industry demands. We are deeply grateful to DEX Heavy Duty Parts, Volvo Group North America, and John Bartel for their generous support and commitment to the college.”

The donation underscores the shared commitment of DEX Heavy Duty Parts, Volvo Group North America, and Davidson-Davie Community College to prepare the next generation of heavy-duty professionals and strengthen the workforce pipeline for the trucking industry.
