From Sen. Jarvis' Desk: October 15, 2021

It has been a slow week in the legislature this week as there were no votes held. Budget negotiations continue to take place and we are unsure when they will be concluded.

Gov. Cooper signed two pieces of great legislation supported by the House and the Senate, S191 and H951

S191 helps ensure the dignity of our state's medical patients allowing patients to have loved ones visit them in the hospital. Any hospital facility found in violation of this most basic right will be held accountable and fined $500 if the problem is not fixed. No Patient should be left alone and without their loved ones, thank you Governor Cooper for signing S191.

H951 is a large piece of bipartisan energy legislation that made its way to the Governor's desk. This bill will help ensure that North Carolina remains at the forefront of clean and reliable energy for years to come.

This week in district I had the opportunity to attend the Congressional Sportsman Caucus Dinner. I currently serve as a vice-chair for caucus and was thankful for the fellowship at this event.

Also, I had the great opportunity to visit Falling Oak Timber in Lexington. Thank you to the great staff there for the warm welcome and allowing me to tour. Small businesses like yours are the backbone of our state and our nation.

As always Thank You to our numerous constituents who continue to write, call, or email our office. I will never stop fighting for you.

Senator Steve Jarvis,
NC District 29
