New Christian: The Christian Worldview

All people from all walks of life have a world view.  It is the lens through which we view the world, we make decisions, we interpret the data we take in through our senses.  The question we all must ask is what world view we have, never whether we have one or not.

In this world there are several competing worldviews going on at the same time.  You have the different religious world views, such as the Muslim submission to Allah, the Hindu and Buddhist great cycles, the animist eternal present, but we also have secular world views competing for dominance.  You have the atheistic materialistic scientific world view with evolution and the big bang making the foundation.  You have the socialist/communist world view founded on materialistic economic practices; you have woke world views which are founded on the tyranny of equity over equality.  All of these views shape the way people think and see the world.

Question is how are Christians to view the world?  Ultimately the Christian world view stems from the bible and is set up in four simple points:

1.      Creation: God made everything: God created everything from nothing and God made it perfectly.  He made the animals and plants and everything.  To crown off all of His creation God made man in His own image to govern it.  God set up a perfect situation.  Genesis 1:1

2.      The Fall:  Sin Broke the World: In this perfect world God gave Adam and Eve one rule, don’t eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that is the only rule.  Thing is Satan tempted Eve and Eve convinced Adam and they ate and sin entered the world.  God had told Adam the moment he ate from the tree he would die.  Well, the moment Adam ate he spiritually dead.  This death, this sin brought suffering and separation from God into the world.  This did not just apply to people but to all of creation, with the fallen creation groaning under brokenness and sin.  Romans 3:23

3.      Redemption: Jesus Saves us: When Adam and Eve fell they were separated from God.  There was a division, a gulf.  Man could not reach God or be in relationship with Him because man was dead in their sin. God, seeing the situation sent Jesus, born of the virgin Mary and conceived by the Holy Spirit, He did real miracles, raise the dead, walked on water and lived a perfect life.  Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins and was raised again to give us new life, bridging the gap between us and God.  Jesus offered redemption.  Romans 5:8

4.      Restoration: God Fixes Everything: Through Jesus’ atoning death and resurrection, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Trinity, God is renewing not only believers, but the whole world.  God is renewing the hearts of believers, sanctifying them and restoring them to their original state and one day Jesus will return to eliminate all evil, pain, and death forever, restoring creation to the situation it had before the fall.

In shor the Christian world view is summed up in a few facts.  God created everything good and humanity screwed all that up creating a gulf between man and God.  God sent Jesus to repair that gulf and restore humanity and one day Jesus will return to fix everything.  Because of all of this Christians can no longer look at things from worldly terms.  For true Christians there cannot be white or black because there can only be saved and unsaved.  There cannot be weak or powerful for the powerful are to serve the weak, and te meek shall inherit the earth.  For Christians there cannot be rich or poor because for true Christians all are supposed to work and all are supposed to help one another out.

Now in closing, I am going to say there are a lot of people out there that claim to be Christians that are lying to you.  Those who despise the poor are damned to eternal hell and lying about being saved but those who are too lazy to lift a stick to strike a snake and will not work to support their own family will burn with the rich.  Those who put human race as a category for separation on any side are probably lying about being a Christian also.  We are called, as Christians to embrace the Christian worldview, because for us it is the truth.  See you next week.
