As Valentine’s Day approaches, Hospice of Davidson County is inviting the community to help spread love in a meaningful way—by supporting hospice patients and their families through its annual Hearts for Hospice initiative.

The effort, led by the organization’s Volunteer Department, focuses on assembling Valentine-themed gift bags for patients receiving hospice care. The bags are designed to offer comfort and encouragement, both to patients and to their loved ones, during an emotionally challenging time.

Donations include practical and uplifting items such as small stuffed animals, travel-size toiletries, activity books, snacks, and Valentine-themed tissue paper and bags. Volunteers will use the donated items to prepare gift bags that will be distributed to patients in Hospice of Davidson County’s care.

Hospice representatives say the program is about more than Valentine’s Day—it’s about reminding patients that they are supported and remembered by their community.

Hospice of Davidson County, which recently celebrated 40 years of service, provides care focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients with serious illness. Community-supported initiatives like Hearts for Hospice help extend that mission beyond medical care and into emotional support for patients and families.

Donations may be delivered to the Hospice of Davidson County Administration Building at 200 Hospice Way in Lexington during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Wednesday, February 4.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to donate new, individually wrapped items to help volunteers prepare the Valentine’s gift bags in time for distribution.
