LCS requesting parent participation in survey regarding a year-round school calendar

A potential balanced (often referred to as year-round) calendar is, once again, the topic of discussion at Lexington City Schools. The system is asking parents to fill out a survey sharing their thoughts about the calendar. The survey can be accessed by clicking here. A short video offering some details about the balanced calendar option can be found here. Parents have until Friday, September 9 to complete the survey.

In a statement to Davidson Local, LCS Assistant Superintendent Emy Garrett stated “the school board would decide if the calendar would just be for elementary schools or whole system. Future surveys would depend on the data we get back from parents.” It was also noted that LCS staff was surveyed last year; the majority opposed a calendar change.
