Lexington Fire Department led procession for Captain Ronnie Metcalf

The Lexington Fire Department led a procession in honor of Captain Ronnie Metcalf, a 19-year veteran of the LFD who died on Friday,March 29 after sustaining life-ending burn injuries while serving in the line of duty.

The procession began at 6 p.m. in Winston-Salem at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health on April 01.

From US-52 South, the procession got off at exit 193A to NC-8 and turned right onto Biesecker Rd to pass Fire Station 3, which was Captain Metcalf’s Fire Station.

Then, it will turned left onto the West Center Extension before turning left onto West Center Street. After turning left at what is known by Lexington residents as ‘The Square’ onto N Main St, the group then travel ed 29-70 to Thomasville where the procession concludied at JC Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.

The family of Ronnie Metcalf and Denton Fire Department were in the procession yesterday evening.

The cause of the fire that caused the injuries to Captain Metcalf is currently under investigation.
