Local Residents Honored by The Arc of Davidson County

The Arc of Davidson County recently recognized individuals making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The following awards were given at the May Annual Meeting:

  • Courtney Burche - Food Lion Employer of the Year recognizes employers having exceptional records of providing inclusive competitive employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities

  • Jennifer Michael - Davidson County Schools Teacher of the Year Award for demonstrating excellence in teaching students with developmental disabilities

  • Julie Evans, The Arc of North Carolina - Professional of the Year Award for demonstrating sensitivity and outstanding support for people with developmental disabilities

  • Linda McKay - Volunteer of the Year Award for giving generously of time and talents to accomplish the mission of The Arc

  • The Salvation Army of Davidson County- Inclusive Community Award for building connections within the entire community to support and serve people with and without disabilities in an inclusive setting

  • Michele Payne - Direct Support Professional of the Year Award for extraordinary commitment to providing direct support for people with developmental disabilities

  • Teresa Miller - Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leadership in self-advocacy

  • Patrick Trull- Spotlight Award given to an employee for exceeding expectations and expecting the same of people supported.

The Arc of Davidson County is committed to securing for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to choose and realize their goals of where they learn, live, work and play.
