DCS school board approves plans, purchases and contracts
The Davidson County Schools (DCS) Board of Education held their monthly meeting Monday, June 7 at Davis-Townsend Elementary School. Prior to the meeting, a reception was held for 2020 and 2021 retirees. Those who were present were recognized and given a gift.
Davidson County Health Department Director Lillian Koontz provided a COVID-19 update. At the time, Davidson County had the third highest positive test rate in the state. The county also continues to have a low rate of vaccinations. The department offers vaccinations Monday through Friday on a walk-in basis.
Various plans, curriculum needs, equipment purchases and contracts were presented to the board including:

- Social Emotional Learning Middle School Curriculum 
- Letterland Online Interactive Resources 
- High School English textbook purchase 
- Student Chromebook replacement purchase 
- Cafeteria Benefit Plan 
- Bus Cameras - Stoner-Thomas 
- Additional bus cameras for DCS 
- Facility usage plan 
- Ediio (website host) contract renewal 
- Softchoice Corporation contract 
- Cisco Smartnet contract 
- Ledford Middle School roof replacement construction contract 
- School resource officer contract 
- Waste and recycling management contract 
All plans, curriculum, equipment purchases and contracts were approved unanimously.
Administrative appointments include:
- Steve Reynolds was appointed Director of Accountability and Testing 
- Maria McGhee was appointed Principal of North Davidson High School 
- Jason Lohr was appointed Principal of Ledford Middle School 
- Jennifer Woodrum was appointed Principal of East Davidson High School 
- Dr. Leah Leonard was appointed Principal of Friendship Elementary 
- Dr. Heather Horton was appointed Principal of Davidson Virtual Academy.
