Mary Boone and Antionette Kerr Launch New Podcast, Beyond the Headlines
Community leaders and communicators Mary Boone and Antionette Kerr have launched a new podcast aimed at exploring the stories, people, and issues shaping local communities.
Beyond the Headlines debuted on YouTube on June 11 and promises a mix of thoughtful conversation, tough questions, and humor as the hosts discuss topics affecting Davidson County and beyond.
According to the podcast description, the goal is to move beyond daily headlines and explore the context behind the stories that impact residents, organizations, and local decision-making.
"We're going beyond the headlines to explore the stories, people, and issues shaping our communities," the hosts state in the program's introduction.
The podcast will feature conversations between Boone and Kerr as well as guests representing a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. Topics are expected to include community issues, public policy, local events, leadership, matters affecting the region, food and travel finds.
The hosts have also emphasized the podcast's editorial independence. In a disclaimer released with the launch, Boone and Kerr note that the opinions expressed on the program belong to the hosts and their guests and do not necessarily reflect the views of employers, community partners, sponsors, advertisers, or family members.
The disclaimer also states that while advertisers help support the program, they do not influence the content, topics, or opinions discussed on the show.
"Our advertisers support this program, but they do not control our content, choose our topics, approve our opinions, or tell us what to say," the hosts wrote.
Boone and Kerr said the podcast was created to provide space for honest conversations about issues that matter to local communities.
