Nominations Open for 2026 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award in Davidson County
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, a statewide program recognizing individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to serving their communities.
Established by the Office of the Governor in 1979, the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award honors North Carolinians who have shown compassion, leadership, and dedication through volunteerism. Over the past four decades, thousands of volunteers across the state have been recognized for making a meaningful difference in the lives of their neighbors.
Each county may select up to 10 honorees, which can include individuals, businesses, groups or teams, as well as one paid Director of Volunteers. From these local nominees, one individual will be selected for consideration for the Governor’s Medallion Award for Volunteer Service, the state’s highest volunteer honor, presented annually to only 20 to 25 volunteers statewide. Nominations are reviewed and evaluated by a local selection committee.
Community members are encouraged to nominate deserving volunteers by completing an online nomination form at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZJVZTM3
Those who prefer a paper nomination form may request one by emailing info@uwdavidson.org or calling the United Way of Davidson County at (336) 249-2532.
Online nominations must be submitted by February 13, 2026.
Paper nomination forms must be returned by January 30, 2026, to Tammy Dalton at the United Way of Davidson County.
The Governor’s Volunteer Service Award provides an opportunity to publicly recognize the individuals and organizations whose selfless service strengthens Davidson County and the state of North Carolina.
