Lexington Student Awarded Scholarship to Attend National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

LEXINGTON — Lexington student Eric Anderson Jr. has been awarded a scholarship to attend the 2026 American Association of Christian Schools Youth Legislative Development Conference in Washington.

Eric Jr., the son of Eric and Megan Anderson of Lexington and the owners of Holly Hill Memorial Park and founders of Holly Hill Cares, is a junior at Union Grove Christian School. He was selected as part of a distinguished group of students from across the country to participate in the national leadership conference.

The conference, scheduled for this summer, gives students the opportunity to learn firsthand about the American political system through interactive experiences, including a mock Senate session, meetings with elected officials and visits to historic sites throughout Washington, D.C., including the U.S. Capitol, national monuments and Arlington National Cemetery.

The AACS Youth Legislative Development Conference is designed to encourage leadership development and civic engagement among Christian school students nationwide.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Eric Jr. shared:

“Receiving the opportunity to attend this trip and conference is something I am extremely grateful for and do not take lightly. Experiences like this are only possible because of the guidance, support, and encouragement of many people along the way.

First and foremost, I thank God, specifically the God of the Christian faith, for the opportunities and direction He has provided in my life. I am also deeply thankful for my parents, family, teachers, and mentors who helped shape my character, encourage my interests, and support me in pursuing opportunities like this one.

Over the years, I have devoted a great deal of time to studying politics, history, and public service. This experience has reinforced the importance of using those interests not simply for personal achievement, but in ways that can positively serve and benefit others.

As someone who hopes to continue serving families through my family’s work at Holly Hill Memorial Park while also remaining involved in public service in some way, this opportunity has strengthened my commitment to leadership, responsibility, and service to the community. I am thankful for the chance to learn from this experience and hopeful that it will help me better serve others in the future.”

Eric Jr.’s selection reflects his leadership, character and commitment to learning. Family, friends and members of the local community are proud to celebrate this accomplishment and wish him a meaningful and memorable experience in Washington, D.C.
