Political Opinion: From Sen. Jarvis' Desk - October 27, 2023

Dear Friends,

Wow, this month has flown by! I am still enjoying the change of season. I hope you make the most of the last bit of warm weather as it moves through this weekend. Soon we will get back to the crisp days, and we can anticipate the time change that is around the corner.

The Redistricting Committees were hard at work creating election maps over the past few weeks. This process was mandated by a recent state Supreme court ruling, and the outcome was discussed in our committee process. The maps were then passed through the House and Senate this week, finalizing the last of the major legislative actions during the Long Session of NCGA.

The final maps are included below for you to review . Our district remains intact, with Davidson and Davie included in their entirety for district 30 of the Senate.

The adjournment of the Long Session was passed in a resolution. SJR 760 names the re-convening dates and details the reasons why sessions can be could be called by either the Speaker of the House or the Senate's President Pro Tem.

The Golden Leaf Foundation is recruiting new intern sponsors with their program, the Rural Internship Initiative. The highly successful program is entering its 3rd summer in 2024. If you own a business, work in healthcare or local government, please consider this rewarding opportunity.

I can't wait to see you at the Barbecue Festival in Lexington on Saturday! I will be there early in the day, so look for me there. Whether it's your first or your 38th time at the festival, it will be a memorable day!

Davidson County's Veteran's Services Office is taking its resources on the road! The Office is excited to announce the rollout of their new mobile van, which will bring support options directly to our veteran residents. The official unveiling date is scheduled for November 4th.

Autumn is for apples and NC is one of the country's top producers of the sweet fruit. One of our members generously provided several homegrown apples to each of the Senators during session this week. Thank you to Senator Moffitt and his wife, Dina for their efforts!

Their are a variety of events this weekend that are not Halloween specific. Take the kids and check out one of the church sponsored Trunk or Treats in Davidson or Davie Counties.

If you have concerns, or questions, you can reply to this newsletter, email, or call my office at

I also take time each day to personally call citizens in our district to listen to their concerns. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you!
