Republican Party Chair Chris Jessup: Elections
Political Opinion
Once again, we are hearing the familiar line that this is the most important election of our lifetimes. And, although that statement is used to describe almost every election, the stakes do rise with each contest. The stakes are high now and it is certainly not the time for Republicans and conservatives to stay home.
We have all witnessed the steady decline of the Democratic Party over the past few decades. The party that once described itself as being a refuge for the working man and woman has largely denigrated into a cesspool of philosophies and policies that are in direct opposition to western civilization and values which have produced American exceptionalism. And this is not only at the national level. These dangerous and radical ideas can be seen at every level during this election cycle. Nothing about this threat is accidental, either. It has been a concerted effort dating back to the post-World War II era. And one could easily make the argument that it even predated that period.
Don’t be fooled by any Democratic candidate that attempts to distance themselves or their campaign from the radical ideas that are being presented by their party. If elected, these candidates will tow the party line, no matter if they are a county commissioner, school board member, or a United States senator. Whether it’s more taxes, closing churches, men in women’s sports, open borders, or a host of other things, a Democrat in any office will do as they are told by their party.
Are Republicans or Republican policies perfect? Certainly not. But when contrasted to what the other side offers, I’ll vote Republican every time. Now isn’t the time to stay home. Cast your vote!
Christopher Jessup serves as chairman of both the Davidson County Republican Party and the 6th Congressional District.
