FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lexington City Schools and Davidson County Schools are aware of behavior that occurred during our recent basketball game at Central Davidson High School that was deeply inappropriate.

Previous story by Davidson Local

Students and student-athletes represent our schools with pride, discipline, and integrity. They deserve to compete and cheer in environments that are safe, respectful, and supportive — whether they are visiting another school or at their own school.

Racially insensitive actions and comments, including those that demean or stereotype individuals based on race, have no place in high school athletics or in any school setting. The well-being, dignity, and safety of our students will always be our highest priority.

Both school districts have been in frequent communication and know that this matter has been addressed appropriately. We appreciate the many individuals — from both communities — who support sportsmanship, inclusion, and respect for all students.

Our focus remains on supporting our players, coaches, students, and families by continuing to focus on the values of character and excellence that define our programs and the ideals of the NCHSAA.
