Thomasville Plans Free America 250 Weekend Festivities
The City of Thomasville is inviting the community to “Experience the American Spirit in Thomasville, NC” with a weekend of free America 250 NC events celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The festivities begin Friday night in Downtown Thomasville with the Painted Piano Festival starting at 6:30 p.m. Visitors can enjoy patriotic piano art, music and a historic flag display at City Hall.
Also on Friday, families can watch National Treasure under the stars at PACE Park at 8 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs, though bench seating will also be available.
The celebration continues Saturday with Spring Daze, hosted by the Thomasville Area Chamber of Commerce, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Thomasville Farmers Market will also open for the season, featuring produce, meats, flowers and more.
From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, the Thomasville Historic Preservation Commission will host “We Dig Cemeteries” at the City cemetery. The half-hour tours will highlight local history, including the Confederate soldiers’ section of the cemetery.
All events are free and open to the public.
