Thomasville offers free tool lending program for residents

The City of Thomasville has started a new Neighborhood Toolbox Lending Center to help residents take care of home and yard projects without having to buy tools. The program allows people who live within the city limits to borrow tools free of charge for up to seven days.

The program is open to all residents—renters and homeowners alike—as long as the tools are used for non-commercial purposes.

Tool pickup and return will take place at the Clock Tower/Fountain parking lot on East Main Street, every Monday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., except on holidays.

To borrow tools, residents must bring a North Carolina-issued ID and proof of their Thomasville address. They’ll also be required to sign a Tool Loan Agreement and Waiver of Liability. A copy of the signed form, which includes the due date, will be provided.

A full list of available tools, along with request forms and program details, can be found on the website.

The city hopes this program will make it easier for people to handle basic repairs and outdoor projects. For questions, residents can contact the city’s Community Development Department.
