Early Voting Ends Saturday: Reasons to Vote Today in Davidson County’s Municipal Election

By Antionette Kerr | Davidson Local

Election Day is here, and Davidson County voters have one more chance to make their voices heard in the 2025 municipal races. While municipal elections often draw smaller crowds, their impact on everyday life is anything but small.

Here are three reasons to head to the polls today:

1. Local decisions hit home fast.

From potholes and police budgets to zoning, development, and property taxes—local government decisions shape how we live. The mayors, council members, and school board representatives chosen today will make the calls that affect everything from your neighborhood’s growth to your child’s education. As the saying goes, all politics is local—and these races prove it.

2. Low turnout means your vote carries more weight.

Historically, fewer people show up for municipal elections, which means each ballot cast has extra influence. Even a handful of votes can determine who leads your city or town. Davidson County’s election officials say turnout has been steady but light so far, reminding voters that every voice matters.

3. You’re shaping the community’s future.

The candidates on today’s ballot aren’t faraway politicians—they’re neighbors deciding the direction of Lexington, Thomasville, Denton, Midway, and Wallburg for years to come. Whether it’s supporting new parks, building schools, planning growth, or addressing housing and public safety, these local leaders will help define Davidson County’s next chapter.

Polls close at 7:30 p.m. Voters can check their registration, polling location, and sample ballot by visiting ncsbe.gov or votedavidsoncountync.gov.

Your vote is your say in the community you call home—make it count.
