Davidson County Seeks Public Input on Parks, Recreation and Greenways Plans

Davidson County residents will have two chances this November to help shape the future of local parks, recreation and greenways.

The Davidson County Parks & Recreation Department is updating both its Parks & Recreation Master Plan and its Greenways Master Plan. Together, the plans will set a long-term vision for recreation facilities, programs and trail connections across the county.

To gather public feedback, the department is hosting two drop-in community meetings. Residents can stop by to learn about the planning process and share what they want to see in the county's parks and greenway network.

Meeting dates and location

Both sessions are drop-in, so residents can arrive any time during the scheduled window. The two time slots, one in the evening and one at midday, are meant to accommodate different work and family schedules.

5:00–7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2026

11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Both meetings will be held at the Davidson County Parks & Recreation Department, 555-D West Center Street Extension, Lexington, NC 27295. Residents need to attend only one session.

Why residents should take part

Master plans guide how a county invests in parks, trails and recreation over the coming years. Public input helps planners understand which amenities residents use most, where gaps exist and which greenway connections matter to the community.

The department stresses that resident input and support are important to the process. Whether you walk local trails, bring children to playgrounds, play league sports or simply enjoy open space, the meetings are a chance to have your say.

Questions and comments

Residents who cannot attend, or who have questions, can contact Thomas Marshburn, Director of the Davidson County Parks & Recreation Department, at (336) 242-2958 or Thomas.Marshburn@DavidsonCountyNC.gov.
