17th Annual Hospice of Davidson County Benefit Golf Tournament Raises Support for Local Patient Care

LEXINGTON, N.C. – Under sunny skies at Sapona Golf, Swim and Tennis Club, community members and local businesses gathered on April 16 to support the mission of Hospice of Davidson County.

The 17th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament brought together 112 golfers, sponsors, volunteers and supporters to raise funds that ensure families in the community continue to receive compassionate care and guidance during life’s most significant journeys.

“The incredible turnout at Sapona Club this year is a testament to the deep compassion of our community,” said Ken Hall, Board Chair of Hospice of Davidson County. “We are profoundly grateful to our sponsors and golfers whose generosity ensures that our neighbors continue to receive the highest level of care and dignity.”

The event raised more than $21,000 to directly support the expert clinical care and support services provided by Hospice of Davidson County to individuals facing serious illness in the community, as well as grief counseling, Veteran recognition programs and community education initiatives.

As a nonprofit organization, Hospice of Davidson County relies on the generosity of the community to continue serving patients and families with excellence and dignity.

The charity event was a four-person, Captain’s Choice tournament with shotgun starts for both morning and afternoon tee times. Golfers from 28 teams registered to compete in the tournament and additional activities.

Participants were served breakfast biscuits from the BBQ Shack of Thomasville, coffee from Sapona and lunch from Bridgett’s Kitchen of Lexington. The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony presenting trophies to members of the first and second place teams.

Local R.E. team members Josh Tackett, Cody Hill, Rodney Hill and T.J. Norris claimed the championship and the iconic Hospice of Davidson County lime green blazers at this year’s ceremony. Their victory was matched by their generosity; in addition to competing, Local R.E. supported the event as an Eagle sponsor. The second-place trophies went to Matt Welborn and team.

“We had an amazing time at the golf tournament. From the welcoming atmosphere at Sapona, to the delicious lunch from Bridgette’s Kitchen, the entire day was wonderful. More importantly, we are incredibly grateful for everything Hospice of Davidson County does for our community. It’s an organization that touches so many lives and one that, at some point, many of us will rely on. We are honored to be part of something that gives back in such a meaningful way and look forward to competing again next year,” said Josh Tackett of winning team, Local R.E.

Hospice of Davidson County thanked Champion Sponsor Pinnacle Financial Partners for its continued support of the tournament and Eagle Sponsors Edward Jones, ECSS, First Bank and Local R.E. for their generosity.

Hospice of Davidson County also recognized Birdie Sponsors Biscuit King, Davidson Water, Kelly Office Solutions, L&L Landscaping, Mutual of America and Salcoa Contracting; First Tee Breakfast Sponsor Shuler Meats; 19th Hole Lunch Sponsor Smith and Cochran Properties, in loving memory of Buster Cochran; Snack Sponsor Davidson-Davie Community College; Beverage Sponsor Parrot Benefit Group; Transfusion Station Sponsors Hog City Tavern and MyGeek Technologies; and Hole Sponsors Affordable Funerals and Cremations of Davidson, CBIZ, Electrical Communications and Security Solutions, Fancy Pastry, Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Hospice of Davidson County WHV Committee, John Christian Luxury Real Estate, Lexington Utilities, M Creative, Mountcastle Insurance, Mutual of America, in loving memory of Lauren Ruth Gaghan, Nicholson Cremations & Funerals, Nucor, The Wright Team and YourTriadSports.com.
