Midway Town Manager Settles Into Role
The town that calls itself the “Gateway to Davidson County” has welcomed a new town manager. Brock Hall, a native of Lenoir, is settling into the top job in Midway after his appointment in October 2025.
As town manager, Hall oversees the day-to-day operations of the Town of Midway on behalf of the Town Council.
He brings a strong resume to Midway. He attended Appalachian State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in public administration. Hall has dedicated his career to public service.
“I have always enjoyed working in government,” Hall said. “I enjoy the challenge and duty of providing services to citizens that increase their quality of life.”
Hall served as a patrol officer, detective, and shift sergeant for the Lenoir Police Department. Burke County hired him after he graduated with his master’s degree. There, he served as community development operations manager, general services director, and communications director. He later served as the assistant county manager of Yadkin County for three years before arriving in Midway.
So far, Hall says, working in the community has been a worthwhile experience.
“The council and citizens have been very supportive and welcoming,” he said. “I knew this was going to be a place I wanted to work.”
A typical day for Hall while serving the citizens of Midway involves managing many responsibilities. During this time of year especially, he and his staff are hard at work on the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.
“My days are spent working on projects for the Town Council, interacting with vendors who provide services to the town, and ensuring the day-to-day functions of the town are operating as smoothly as possible. This may mean working with staff at the town park, speaking with citizens, or attending meetings as a representative of the town,” he said. “I also spend a considerable amount of time working with the town clerk and finance officer in preparing the agenda for the next Town Council meeting.”
When Hall is not at work in Midway, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. They find joy in attending church services together, hiking, and working in their garden. His family also enjoys searching for new parks and playgrounds to explore.
He hopes for a long career in Midway and sees a bright future ahead for the growing small town.
“Midway is a fantastic community, and the more I learn about the people who live here, the more I understand their desire to maintain small-town values,” he said. “I believe the town will continue to enhance the already exceptional town park in years to come. As town manager, I will also help the Town Council be successful in any other initiatives they deem appropriate.”
