Thomasville Fire & Rescue graciously received the donation of multiple Autism Response Kits from the Greensboro Firefighter’s Charitable Foundation today. These kits will provide Thomasville’s neurodivergent population the comfort and education they need to help prevent unnecessary stress and anxiety on emergency scenes.
Johnny Leroy Dawkins Jr, who was murdered in 2008 as a result of gun violence. The annual fish fry has become our signature fundraising event. The community looks forward to the fish fry each year. As a result of the fundraiser we have been able to award 2-3 scholarships annually in the amount of $500 each, awarding over $12,000 in scholarships. Our mission is to continue to honor the legacy of our loved one by providing scholarship awards to males - African American, Indigenous, and People of Color - upon graduating high school for the purpose of pursuing a higher education while joining the fight against gun violence.
North Carolina is part of a historic $26 billion agreement that will help bring desperately needed relief to communities impacted by opioids. These funds will be used to support treatment, recovery, harm reduction, and other life-saving programs and services in communities throughout the state. North Carolina’s Opioid and Substance Use Action Plan lays out concrete strategies to advance prevention, reduce harm, and connect people to the care that they need.
Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) announced that CEO Justin W. Strickland of Strickland Brothers 10 Minute Oil Change was named an Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2022 Southeast Award winner. Entrepreneur Of The Year is one of the preeminent competitive business awards for entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies who think big to succeed. An independent panel of judges selected Justin based on his entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth, and impact, among other core contributions and attributes.
The Black Butterfly Network of Lexington's inaugural “Summer Classic Film Series.” The movies that will be presented throughout the series will be iconic Black films such as The Wiz, and Mahogany. The series of films will be held at Bull City Ciderworks - Lexington located in the Depot District at 299 S. Railroad Street, Lexington, NC 27292.
The Davidson County Republican Women's Club is hosting their second annual Conservative Conversations and Cookout. This year's event will feature congressman Ted Budd, congressman Dan Bishop, Judge April Wood, county commissioners as well as other State, Federal and local candidates. This beautiful meet and greet will allow for discussions and conversations with our elected officials.

Any organization that would like to apply for funding for 2023 must attend this meeting.
Meals on Wheels began in 1968 as a Sunday school project at First Baptist Church in Lexington. At that time, it was named “Layman’s Christian Council, Inc.” The name changed to Meals on Wheels in May of 1999. Our Director, Bob Husted, has managed this program for many years with great success. He attends to every need that arises full of vim and vigor. Along with help and guidance from Craig Bullins, our accountant.

The Thomasville City Schools Board of Education today announced the appointment of Dr. Chris Kennedy as the next superintendent of Thomasville City Schools. He will take office on September 1, 2022.
Come join us for a fantastic firework show on July 3, 2022 at Hughes Park. The gates will open at 5:30pm and cost $5 per car. There will be games/inflatables, music will start at 6pm and fireworks after dark.
