Caught Doing Good: Thomasville Fire Department wins multiple awards
The Thomasville Fire Department has been busy collecting awards for their service, professionalism, and cooking skills! In October, Chief Martin Daily was named Fire Chief of the Year of the Piedmont Region by the Piedmont NC Firefighter's Association - This qualifies him to be considered for the state-wide Fire Chief of the Year Award. Locally, department members were recognized for their service during their annual service banquet.

NAACP to host Thirty-Sixth Annual Freedom Fund Banquet Jan. 14
Plans have been made for the Thirty-Sixth Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Banquet will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at J. Smith Young YMCA, 119 West Third Avenue, Lexington, N.C. at 5:00 pm. The speaker will be Reverend Donna Cuthbertson, Pastor of Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Linwood, N.C.

Advisory: Thomasville Water tips to prevent freezing
The Thomasville Water department is receiving calls about customers without water more than likely due to the freezing temperatures that we are experiencing. Please contact the Thomasville Water Plant if you have a water emergency such as a busted pipe that is flooding an area. The Lexington Senior High School Class of 1989 Alumni, friends, and community donors had a BBQ and gave away over 75 bikes to youth in the Terrace Lane Community on Saturday, December 17, 2022. This is an ongoing tradition.

Police bring Christmas joy to local children
On December 17, 2022, members of the Davidson County Fraternal Order of Police(FOP) Lodge #97 conducted its annual “COPS & KIDS CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENT,” by taking 28 children Christmas shopping at the Walmart Supercenter,1585 Liberty Drive, Ste. 1, in Thomasville. The Lodge spent approximately $4,000.00 on the purchase of toys and clothes for this event.
Petition: Local group calls for animal protections
According to the petition: “Animal Control Officers are often hindered by “vague & non-existent laws” they need in order to do their job properly for the animals in the community. Each city and county has the right to implement their own ordinances, while following our state animal welfare laws as well.”
