Thomasville Police investigate two deaths and inadequate staffing at local nursing home
On Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 7:56 pm, Thomasville police officers responded to Pine Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center after receiving calls that staff could not be contacted by telephone and had not been seen by some residents of the facility. Officers arrived on scene and determined there was inadequate staffing to accommodate the 98 patients of the facility.

Rev. Calvin E. Smith to be honored with MLK Service Award
This year’s MLK Service Award will go to Calvin E. Smith, a pastor and teacher dedicated to service. Smith said he has always had a passion and calling to serve even at a young age. After completing high school, this desire led him into the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, Rev. Smith continued to serve the government by being a USPS mail carrier for 18 years.
