NAACP to host Thirty-Sixth Annual Freedom Fund Banquet Jan. 14

Plans have been made for the Thirty-Sixth Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, honoring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Banquet will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at J. Smith Young YMCA, 119 West Third Avenue, Lexington, N.C. at 5:00 pm. The speaker will be Reverend Donna Cuthbertson, Pastor of Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Linwood, N.C.

The Thomasville Water department is receiving calls about customers without water more than likely due to the freezing temperatures that we are experiencing. Gov. Cooper: Winter conditions create State of Emergency

With the possibility of icy conditions in the western part of the state and below average temperatures expected as an arctic mass approaches, Governor Roy Cooper signed a State of Emergency today to activate the state’s emergency operations plan, waive transportation regulations to help the transport of fuel and critical supplies, help first responders and protect consumers from price gouging.

Police bring Christmas joy to local children

On December 17, 2022, members of the Davidson County Fraternal Order of Police(FOP) Lodge #97 conducted its annual “COPS & KIDS CHRISTMAS SHOPPING EVENT,” by taking 28 children Christmas shopping at the Walmart Supercenter,1585 Liberty Drive, Ste. 1, in Thomasville. The Lodge spent approximately $4,000.00 on the purchase of toys and clothes for this event.
