Halloween Festivities Set to Begin Across Davidson County

By Davidson Local Staff

DAVIDSON COUNTY — Pumpkins are popping up on porches, costumes are being stitched together, and Halloween celebrations are taking shape across Davidson County. From family farm fun to downtown trick-or-treat events, communities are preparing for weekends packed with fall festivities leading into October 31.

Denton’s “Fun on the Farm” Offers Classic Fall Experience

The celebrations begin Saturday, October 25, at Fun on the Farm, located at 1072 Cranford Road in Denton. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a day of outdoor games, local vendors, and seasonal food.

A costume contest will be held at 12 p.m. in the Music Hall, encouraging guests of all ages to show off their creativity. Admission is $8 for adults, while children 12 and under are free. Organizers describe it as a wholesome community event where families can “enjoy the countryside and celebrate the season together.”

Thomasville Hosts “Trunk or Treat” for Families

On Tuesday, October 28, Thomasville Pediatrics Well Child Clinic will host its annual Trunk or Treat at 6329 Unity Street from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event will feature food trucks, games, candy, face painting, and hot chocolate, all offered in a safe environment for families. Participants who bring five canned food items will be entered for a chance to win prizes, supporting local food-assistance efforts. Organizers expect hundreds of families to attend.

Lexington’s “Halloween Is Coming!” Emphasizes Safe Fun

On Friday, October 31, the Banks & Miller American Legion Post #255, located at 1 Arthur Drive in Lexington, will transform into a hub for Halloween activities. The free community event — themed “Halloween Is Coming!” — runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and offers an alternative, safe space for children to enjoy the holiday.

Presented by Anything for Our Youth Group in partnership with the Legion, the event will include free food, candy, games, music, dancing, and a costume contest. Organizers encourage families to “come dressed in costume and ready for fun.”

Book-O-Ween Encourages Reading With a Literary Twist

Davidson County Charter will also get in on the fun with Book-O-Ween celebrations. One such event is scheduled for Friday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., inviting families to decorate their vehicles and participate in a literary-themed Trunk or Treat. Costumes based on favorite book characters are encouraged, blending education with Halloween excitement.

Downtown Lexington Keeps the “Boo Bash” Tradition Alive

Meanwhile, downtown Lexington will celebrate Halloween night with local businesses offering candy, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. In past years, the area around the Davidson County Courthouse has drawn crowds of costumed families taking photos and trick-or-treating among shops and restaurants.

City officials remind residents to use caution while walking downtown and to follow traffic detours during evening hours.

Community Celebrations Bring Communities Together

Halloween events across Davidson County continue a long-standing tradition of safe, community-driven celebrations. With options ranging from rural festivals to city-center gatherings, organizers say this year’s festivities are designed to bring residents together after what has been a busy fall season.
