Rev. Aaron Long: What have you done for Jesus today

What have you done for Jesus today?  How have you served Him?  How have you spread the gospel?  To many Christians treat Jesus as an add on to their life.  They look at Jesus as a life coach, as a get out hell free card. They think about Jesus at Christmas and easter and maybe if they are feeling especially devout a couple of Sundays a year, but not much otherwise.  What have you done for Jesus today.

Jesus has done a lot for you.  He lived a sinless life for you.  He became incarnate, giving up heaven to live amongst us for you.  He died on the cross to forgive your sins.  He was resurrected to new life so you might have new life also.  He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father to intercede for you.  He is coming back to gather His elect to Himself for you.  What have you done for Jesus today?

What have you done for Jesus today?  Have you invited someone to Church with you?  Have you told someone about Jesus, what He has done for you, how He has saved you, how He has carried you through hard times?  Have you been out in the fields working as a harvester, for the fields are white for the harvest?

What have you done for Jesus today?  Have you helped the homeless and the hungry, Jesus said that if you give a cup of cold water to the least of these it is the same as giving it to Him?  Have you visited the sick, the imprisoned?  Have you cared for the orphans and widows which James calls true religion.

What have you done for Jesus today?  Have you helped at the Church, it’s the Body and Bride of Christ.  Have you worked with the men’s fellowship, women’s fellowship, or youth fellowship?  Have you volunteered to teach Sunday school?  Have you worked at church events or helped with clean up.  Have you tithed and supported the ministry?

What have you done for Jesus today?  Have you ministered to addicts and those in despair?  Have you visited those around you who have lost loved ones, widows and widowers in your community that are all alone?  Have you laughed with your brothers and sisters and cried with them?  Have you worked to make other people’s lives better for the sake of Jesus?

What have you done for Jesus today?  This is a question we all must be asking ourselves.  Jesus has done everything for you, He has saved you, made you whole.  To many false Christians walk around praising His name and living like the devil behind the scenes.  Grace isn’t cheap, it cost Jesus everything.  What have you done for Him Today.
