Recently, the Lexington Farmers Market has undergone significant and exciting changes in leadership positions. Long-time board member, Jennifer Rosecrans, has taken over as president of the Lexington Farmers Market board, succeeding previous long-term president Kivi Leroux Miller.

For many years, the Lexington Farmers Market has been a staple for the city and community as a whole. Serving as a place of unity and collective support, the Lexington Farmers Market creates a casual environment in which one can simply interact with others and enjoy themselves.

From purchasing an artisan-baked muffin, freshly brewed coffee, or simply meeting new people you never would have spoken to, the Farmers Market aims to “create a sense of community” and bring people together. Alongside creating an amazing communal space, the Farmer’s Market also helps to support smaller businesses and organizations, all while keeping money and goods within the community and therefore strengthening it immensely.

Hailing from “Crossings Farm,” newly appointed president, Jennifer Rosecrans comes from a background as an incredibly diverse farmer. “Crossings Farm” produces a wide variety of offerings, from pasture-raised animal products, such as chicken, beef, pork, and egg, to fresh produce such as lettuce mixes, peppers, and cucumbers, to beautiful and cut-flowers.

Rosecrans seeks to cultivate “a diversified shopping experience” with her leadership. With a multitude of diverse products and goods available, such as fresh coffee, artisan and baked goods, and different vegetable and plant options sourced from local vineyards, Rosecrans’ “goal is to have more products and more variety of products than what was seen in the last few years,” with her already making strides to do so.

With the help and support of the Lexington Farmers Market Board, especially previous president Leroux Miller, the transition into Rosecrans’ new role as president has been incredibly smooth. As a result, Rosecrans is incredibly excited for her new leadership responsibilities and position, ready to improve and strengthen the Lexington Farmers Market as a whole!

Overall, the Lexington Farmers Market is steadily improving, strengthening the community as a whole and building a foundation for an improved local market. So be on the lookout for new and exciting vendors and changes coming from the Farmer’s Market, located in the Depot District on 129 S. Railroad St., on Saturdays from 8am-Noon.

You might find something you didn’t even know you needed!

The Lexington Farmers Market opens at The Depot on Saturday, May 4th.
