Crash and fatality under investigation

Rowan County Emergency Management Deputy Chief Allyson Summit confirmed that “first responders from Davidson, Rowan and Iredell counties did respond to a single vehicle accident Sunday morning sometime before 9:30 a.m.

The crash, which occurred on I85 on the Yadkin River Bridge right at the county line between Davidson and Rowan, backed up traffic and drivers were rerouted onto Hwy 29. Rescuers did pull one male from the river sometime la

ter, and that person was deceased. His identity has not been released at this time. The investigation into the cause of the accident has been turned over to Davidson County Sheriff’s Office so I cannot comment on that. We are very appreciative that Iredell County, Rowan County and Davidson County teams all worked so well together at the scene.”
