Davidson County road closed for emergency culvert repair

N.C. Department of Transportation crews closed a Davidson County road on Tuesday for an emergency culvert repair.

Helmstetler Rd. was closed in both directions near Beaver Dam Creek Rd. Traffic is being detoured to Mount Carmel Church Rd., Tyro Rd., Old Salisbury Rd. and Tussey Rd.

The closure will allow crews to safely repair a void between the barrels of the three-barrel pipe that carries the road across Beaverdam Creek. Work is expected to be complete by Oct. 12, weather permitting.

Motorists should remain vigilant near the closure and expect some delays due to the detour.
