Novant Health: Enjoy Labor Day in a healthy way

Novant Health: Enjoy Labor Day in a healthy way

Covid is still very much an issue. We are beginning to see another rise in the occurrences so it is still important to protect ourselves. Vaccination is still our best prevention—if you have not been fully vaccinated get your vaccine today! Prevention of spread starts with respect of others. If you are sick, or have family members in the home sick, it is best to stay home.

“We want to prevent the spread of Covid, but in reality, no one wants us to share any illness with them even if it is a common cold. Staying home prevents the spread of germs that cause many illnesses and in particular, Covid. We do have home tests available to test for Covid—it is reasonable to consider testing prior to attending any large gatherings. As a host, ask your attendees to consider testing. If you are going to have a large gathering think about having it outside,” side Dr. Daniel Jobe, family physician lead at Novant Health Primary Care High Point.

Jobe said, “Consider virtual options for those who may wish to attend but have sick symptoms. Masks are still a great prevention tool! Although most of us are pretty fed up with them you can always use a fun twist with incorporation of masks. Have a mask contest and the winner gets a prize, etc. It is important to remember as a host of an event it is our responsibility to keep our attendees safe. As always, practice the basics of prevention. This includes good handwashing, appropriate mouth and nose covering while coughing or sneezing and social distancing.”
