Officials Say Early Voting 'On Par' In Davidson County
By Antionette Kerr | Davidson Local
Early voting began Thursday, October 16, in Davidson County, with 102 voters casting ballots on the first day, according to the Davidson County Board of Elections.
That might seem low, but Deputy Director Adam B. Moore, MPA, said the initial numbers are “mostly on par with years past,” noting that turnout tends to mirror how competitive each local race is.
“Thomasville has more contested elections this year than Lexington, which is causing the higher turnout in Thomasville,” Moore explained. “That was inversed in 2023 when Lexington had more contested elections than Thomasville. You can see that reflected in the data from 2023.”
Several Davidson County municipalities—particularly Lexington, Midway, Wallburg, and Denton—have unopposed races this cycle, which often leads to lower turnout. Still, Moore said the process is running smoothly and encouraged residents to make their voices heard.
“Overall, early voting is going well in Davidson County,” Moore said. “We encourage all eligible voters in Lexington, Thomasville, Midway, Wallburg, and Denton to come out and vote.”
Voters can find their sample ballots and verify registration information through the North Carolina State Board of Elections at vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup.
