Lexington Firefighters Contain Blaze at Vacant Home on Fairview Drive
Lexington, NC — Lexington firefighters responded to a structure fire Monday evening after a caller reported flames visible in a wooded area near Fairview Drive.
The Lexington Fire Department was dispatched around 5:13 p.m. on November 10. As crews were en route, Battalion Chief Waylon Turbeville spotted heavy black smoke and quickly upgraded the call to a structure fire.
When firefighters reached the scene, they discovered a fully involved vacant home located roughly half a mile off the roadway. Crews launched a defensive attack, bringing the fire under control within about 50 minutes. The flames were contained to the structure, and no injuries were reported.
Agencies assisting in the response included the Lexington Police Department, Davidson County EMS, the North Carolina Forestry Service, and the Lexington Fire Marshal’s Office.
Battalion Chief Turbeville served as Incident Commander, overseeing operations throughout the response. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
