SNAP Double Bucks Return to the Lexington Farmers Market — Just in Time for the Harvest Market

SNAP Double Bucks Return to the Lexington Farmers Market — Just in Time for the Harvest Market

By Antionette Kerr | Davidson Local

After weeks of uncertainty tied to the government shutdown and USDA delays, there’s finally some good news for local families — SNAP/EBT Double Bucks are back at the Lexington Farmers Market.

Market organizers announced that the SNAP/EBT Double Bucks Program is officially up and running again, effective immediately. The popular program helps stretch grocery dollars for families using SNAP/EBT benefits while supporting the farmers who grow fresh, local food right here in Davidson County.

“Thanks to the incredible support from our community through the Farm Fest Silent Auction, we’re able to bring this program back to help make fresh, local food more accessible for everyone,” organizers shared.

Here’s how it works: When shoppers use their SNAP/EBT card at the market, they’ll receive Double Bucks up to $20 to spend on fresh produce and other eligible items. That means if a shopper swipes their card for $20, they’ll get another $20 to spend — $40 worth of local food for the price of $20.

This community-supported comeback wouldn’t have been possible without the local businesses, vendors, and residents who bid, donated, and showed up for the Farm Fest Silent Auction.

“Your contributions make a real difference,” organizers said. “You’re helping neighbors access healthy food while keeping local farms thriving.”

The timing couldn’t be better — the next Lexington Farmers Market is set for Friday, November 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Depot in downtown Lexington. The event will also serve as the Harvest Market, a seasonal celebration featuring local produce, baked goods, handmade items, and plenty of fall favorites just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Lexington Farmers Market continues to be more than a shopping stop — it’s a community gathering place where shoppers can meet the people who grow their food, share recipes, and invest in the local economy one bag of greens at a time.

For more information, follow the Lexington Farmers Market on Facebook or visit the information tent at The Depot during market hours.
