From the Desk of State Senator Steve Jarvis: Addresses concerns about the DMV
Opinion
Friends and Neighbors,
I understand the frustration many of you have experienced with the North Carolina DMV. From prolonged wait times to difficulties in scheduling appointments, these issues have disrupted daily routines and caused undue stress for countless residents across the state. These frustrations are real, and they impact your daily life in ways that should not be overlooked by those in charge.
Recently, serious concerns over leadership and operational failures at the NC DMV led to the resignation of Commissioner Goodwin, a significant change but truthfully a small step in a long journey to resolving the challenges at hand.
I want to encourage you to share your personal DMV experience with the Governor’s Office and the NC Department of Transportation, who ultimately oversees the DMV. Your stories matter, and they can be helpful in guiding meaningful reform.

As your State Senator, last week I met with the newly appointed DMV Commissioner, Paul Tine, to express my shared concerns and he assured me that he has a plan to correct and modernize the DMV. I will continue to push for accountability and efficiency in every way I can here at the State Legislature, but please understand that because the DOT and DMV fall under the Executive Branch, change must truly stem from these bodies. Your voice helps us get there faster.
