“Flavors of Home” Returns with Mother's Day Dinner Pairing Inspired by Family, Memory, where Asian flair meets southern roots.
"This is our second one," said Stephanie Huynh. "The first one was in March. We are planning on doing them quarterly."
Set for Sunday, May 11th at 3 p.m. at Shoto, located at 17 N Main St, Lexington, the next Flavors of Home: Memories & the Women Who Fed Us is a cocktail and dinner pairing that blends nostalgia, culture, and celebration into one shared table.
"Daniel and Jimmy want to share the flavors they grew up with, dishes that their mother would make them, and even dishes their father would prepare for their mom on Mother's Day," Huynh said. "All while experiencing familiar Southern dishes and paired with uniquely picked handcrafted cocktails, each course expresses a memory of mom."
"Childhood dishes with a Southern touch."
"Nostalgic flavors reimagined with bold Southern and Asian influences."
"Each sip tells its own story—built to echo and elevate the flavors of home."
The atmosphere will be intimate and thoughtful, curated not just through food but also music. "The music is a hand-curated playlist by the owners," Huynh noted. "(Though, there might be some live music in the future!)"
Huynh, a mother to a 2.5-year-old son, Max, shared her personal perspective on the event. "Yes! I am a mom... Max is 2.5 yrs old," she said. "As a mother, I love the idea of a unique and fun experience! Something different, or out of the box, yet personal and intimate. I love that stories will be shared, moms from all walks of life will be in attendance. When Daniel and Jimmy designed the menu, they really leaned on Rose (Jimmy's wife) and myself for the Southern influence and traditional Mother's Day type dishes here in NC. It has been such a fun event to plan and share with the town. Talking to other moms and seeing the excitement for an event that is new to Lexington has been rewarding."
The team behind the event is also making sure their staff feel celebrated. "We are also treating the staff who work the event to be able to bring their moms at no charge!" Huynh said. "I'm super excited that our staff will be able to share this event with their mom as well!"
The event is open to families with children. "This is a kid-friendly event!" said Huynh. "The menu is not your typical 'kid food' but there are so many children that have amazing palates and will enjoy this dinner! Jimmy the Bartender will have mocktails for each course for all the children (we already have a few signed up!)."
Dessert will be made in collaboration with a local bakery. "We're also teaming up with Sinfully Delicious for the pound cake for our dessert course," Huynh added.
Food is love, and it gives families and mothers the freedom to enjoy a special treat.
