Friends of the Library Book Sale Seeks Donations to Keep Pages Turning

Friends of the Library Book Sale Seeks Donations to Keep Pages Turning

Every bargain book you pick up at the Friends of the Library Book Sale does more than fill your shelf – it fuels programs, technology, and services at our local libraries. This popular sale, run mostly by volunteers, has become a tradition for readers across Davidson County. Shoppers hunt for deals on fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, cookbooks, DVDs and more, with proceeds going directly back into library initiatives.

Right now, the Friends are also accepting donations of gently used books and media. Those boxes in your attic, the paperbacks you’ve already read, or your kids’ outgrown chapter books could become someone else’s next favorite find – and they’ll help fund story times, literacy programs, and community events.

“Your donations are the engine behind this sale,” organizers often say. “Without them, we couldn’t offer such a great selection or support the library at the same level.”

Why It Matters

Libraries aren’t just book warehouses; they’re community lifelines. They offer free internet, job-search help, summer reading programs, and a safe space for learning. With public funding stretched thin, Friends groups fill the gaps. Every donated book and every dollar spent at the sale makes a difference for neighbors who rely on those resources.

How to Help

  • Donate books and media: Drop off gently used items at the library’s designated donation bins or during posted hours.

  • Shop the sale: Bring a bag (or a wagon!) and stock up when the sale opens.

  • Spread the word: Tell friends, teachers, and clubs about the donation drive and the sale.

For details on donation times and sale dates, visit your library’s website or the Friends of the Library Facebook page.

Because when you support the Friends of the Library, you’re not just clearing space on your bookshelf—you’re making space for community growth.
