The North Carolina Public Library Directors’ Association named Karen Schrader, a leader affiliated with the Friends of the Lexington Library, the 2025 Library Friend of the Year at their awards banquet held at the Historic Brookstown Inn in Winston-Salem on December 11th.
The Friends of the Lexington Library invite the public to their Annual Meeting this Sunday, November 9, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. at the Lexington Library Annex, 602 S. Main Street.
Libraries aren’t just book warehouses; they’re community lifelines. They offer free internet, job-search help, summer reading programs, and a safe space for learning. With public funding stretched thin, Friends groups fill the gaps. Every donated book and every dollar spent at the sale makes a difference for neighbors who rely on those resources.
So come join —The Friends of the Library on Saturday, May 17th, 2–4 p.m. at the Library Annex in Lexington. Bring your stories, your questions, your curiosity. You’ll leave with something deeper than answers. Books will be on sold by Pig City Books.
