Davidson County officials declare State of Emergency

WHEREAS, the impact of an imminent winter storm on Davidson County is forecast to include frozen precipitation, including significant accumulation of ice on roadways, power lines, and other critical infrastructure, as well as ongoing below freezing temperatures; and

WHEREAS, such storm conditions may create substantial damage and endanger the safety of the citizens of Davison County, and

WHEREAS, the Chairperson of the Davidson County Board of Commissioners is authorized and empowered by §31.0l(B) of the Davidson County, North Carolina, Code of Ordinances to issue a public proclamation declaring to all persons the existence of a state of emergency; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to ensure the protection of lives, safety, and property within the County that law enforcement and emergency personnel have the authority to access local, state, and federal resources to address the challenges presented by such storm damage, as is provided in Chapter 31 (Emergency Management) of the Davidson County, North Carolina, Code of Ordinances; and

WHEREAS, none of the emergency prohibitions or restrictions authorized by law and set out in §31.03 through §31.08 of the Davidson County, North Carolina, Code of Ordinances, are required by the current circumstances within the County.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me as the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Davidson County under Article lA of Chapter 166A of the North Carolina General Statutes and Chapter 31 , Emergency Management, of the Davidson County Code of Ordinances IT IS PROCLAIMED:

  1. That a State of Emergency exists within the jurisdiction of Davidson County.

  2. That none of the emergency prohibitions or restrictions authorized by law and set out in §31.03 through §31.08 of the Davidson County, North Carolina, Code of Ordinances, are entered at this time.

  3. That this Declaration is to be distributed to the news media and other organizations calculated to bring its contents to the attention of the general public; filed with Clerk to the Davidson County Board of Commissioners; and distributed to others as necessary to ensure proper implementation of this Declaration.

  4. This Declaration shall take effect upon signing and shall remain in effect unless modified or rescinded.
