Lexington Senior High School Chorus Earns Superior Rating at Disney World Competition
Lexington City Schools is proud to announce that the Lexington Senior High School chorus, under the direction of Mrs. Casey Mancilla, earned Best in Class with a Superior rating at a recent choral competition held at Walt Disney World.
Students traveled to Orlando, Florida, where they performed alongside talented groups from across the country. Their performance received the highest distinction awarded, reflecting their musical excellence, preparation, and commitment to their craft.
“We are incredibly proud of our chorus students and Mrs. Mancilla for this outstanding achievement,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Rodney Shotwell. “Earning Best in Class with a Superior rating on a national stage reflects the talent, discipline, and commitment our students bring to excellence each day. This accomplishment is a true representation of what it means to Thrive in the Hive.”
“I am so proud of the students and all the effort they put into this performance,” said chorus director Casey Mancilla. “They represented our school and the arts well. The pure joy on their faces when we were announced as Best in Class is a memory I will cherish forever, and I am so grateful to be their teacher.”
In addition to competing, students experienced a memorable trip filled with opportunities to grow as performers and individuals. The group returned with a new classroom trophy, symbolizing their achievement and the pride they carry for Lexington City Schools.
This success was made possible through the support of families, staff, and the community. From fundraising efforts to concert attendance and words of encouragement, the chorus students were uplifted every step of the journey.
