On January 26, 2024, the Lexington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division received a tip through the Internet Crimes Against Children portal of Lucas Mallard’s possession of child sex abuse material (CSAM). Detectives immediately started an investigation upon receiving the tip.

During this investigation, detectives quickly identified Lexington resident Lucas Mallard, age 38, as a suspect in the case and gained physical evidence that Mallard was in possession of numerous pieces of material containing visual representations of child sex abuse material.

Detectives consulted with the District Attorney’s Office and obtained arrest warrants on Mallard to include ten counts of felony third degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Mallard was arrested in Lexington without incident on April 12, 2024. He was then taken before a Davidson County Magistrate where he received a $5,000.00 unsecured bond and was scheduled to appear in Lexington District Court on May 17, 2024.

This remains an ongoing investigation led by the Lexington Police Department.
